Krista Dennett, Fitness Coach and Bellies Inc. Master Core Trainer
I'd like to share a little bit about me first, but more importantly I want to talk about my passion to help change the way we think and feel about our bodies. AND, get our bodies working properly again!
I’m 42 years old, and a mom of three. I’ve had my ups and downs over the years. I’ve struggled with weight, guilt, stress, and depression. I’m pretty much just your ordinary woman who has a lot going on all at once. But I made one change, I discovered how exercise, movement and understanding my body could make substantial changes to my quality of life. Exercise and being a fitness professional has always been a passion of mine, and today I've made it into my career so I can help others make positive changes to their body and life.
I really, truly care about motivating and inspiring others to be the best they can be.
It’s an everyday work in progress for me, and by sharing my experiences I hope others can find their way through this world with as much ease as possible. It is without a doubt, I genuinely want others to be successful and achieve their health and wellness goals.
Over the years of being a group fitness instructor, weight trainer, and now fitness coach, I’ve listened and learned about what makes us tick. What’s our biggest challenges, and our longing for personal success. I have held your stories deep in trust. I’ve felt your emotions. I’ve learned from your experiences.
Through my continued journey of self-discovery, and constant desire to learn and grow, I am excited to share what I feel is the most important foundation of knowledge we women need in order to start the journey of building a physically strong body from the inside-out.
What I know for sure, quick-fixes suck! Only 2% of dieters take off 5-lbs and sustain that weight loss for 5 years.
So that means 98% go right back to where they started! I don’t believe in complicated meal plans, food gimmicks, or guarantees. Of course, if you followed the strict fitness and eating program you will lose weight. But there is no guarantee it will be a life-long, sustainable change.
Through my own journey, I am living proof long-term success is possible. I lead a hectic life of work and family life, just like you. So, what did I do different?
I make life-style changes realistic and achievable.
And, you know what? I just finished reading an amazing book called ‘Supergenes’ by Deepak Chopra, M.D. and Rudolph E. Tanzi, PH.D., and they confirmed my personal strategy from 6 years ago. It’s about making simple, easy choices for change.
So I’m blowing up the traditional fitness philosophy, and going about transformation in a completely different way. It starts with building a strong foundation through your core, and abolish core-related issues like leaking, poochy tummy, low back and hip pain, and pelvic floor pressure. From there, we can start to achieve an overall strong body from the inside-out!
Together, we are going to increase that 2% success rate! I want you to feel real success, lasting weight loss, permanent physical changes. It’s time. Let’s do this!
I have Bachelor of Commerce and BCIT Marketing Management diploma, and spent many years in different business roles. Fitness was always a part of my life. I attended a variety of group fitness classes since my early 20s, and in 2009 I worked closely with a personal trainer who inspired me to be where I am today.
Since 2010, I started my professional fitness journey as a Zumba instructor for 4 years. I taught Zumba, Zumba Toning and specialty small group training classes. My knowledge of business and passion for fitness inspired me to open a boutique fitness studio with a business partner. Through the journey and experience of working with women in a group setting, I realized I wanted to help so much more. And I was dying to get back to my weight training roots. This passion, knowledge and experience brought me to where I am today!
I take the time to understand what motivates us, or what stops us from reaching success. I continue to learn about health through experience, education, research, and workshops. Consulting with experts in the health and fitness field is inspiring, and I thrive as a life-long learner.
I became more aware of the challenges facing women when it came to their bodies, specifically their core, after having 3 children of my own. I ended up with an umbilical hernia above my belly button, resulting in diastasis rectus abdominus (DRA) and a ‘mummy tummy’ look. Even my lean, muscular physique could not hide an incorrect functioning core. This led me to Bellies Inc., where I worked with Kim Vopni to learn the techniques needed to correct my core dysfunction.
After surgery to repair the hernia, I was able to apply the core exercises during my recovery. Seeing the results I experienced first hand, I felt it was important for me to become a trainer with Bellies Inc. and share this knowledge with other women. Since then, I have worked with many women, assessing and overseeing the Core Confidence exercise program and combining the core exercises with my fitness clients. Now, I am working with Bellies Inc. to become a Master Trainer; teaching other fitness and wellness professionals the core confidence program.
My personal journey, education, passion, motivation and drive has brought me to where I am today. It's through my experiences, compassion and care for others, that I'm doing what I do today.
Starting November 15th, I'm hosting a FREE information session: 30 Days of Pelvic Floor and Core Health. Over the course of a month I'll be discussing the issues women face with their bodies in pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause. And provide you with valuable information and tools to make informed choices on repairing and restoring your body.
