It's DAY 1 of my 30 day post-summer eating clean up. For me, the summer is a time to relax and indulge. Now my body has said 'enough!', and it needs some help to get back on track.
It wasn't always like that. I used to struggle to keep in check with eating, drinking and getting enough exercise in July and August. It wasn't until last summer I realized my fitness level was at a point where my body could rebound quick after some summer fun.
Don't get me wrong, I don't let it all go. I exercise regularly throughout the summer. But I also enjoy good food and drinks on the patio, often in excess.
And the number on the scale has gone up too. But that's to be expected, because no amount of exercise can counter an increase in calories.
I'm using the Beachbody 21 Day Fix and Shakeology program as a way to balance portions and daily nutrition. I don't see this program as an option for a quick fix. I feel it is a means to learn healthy, life long, sustainable eating. I've done Weight Watchers and have read up on many diets. In my opinion this one helps to teach balance. We can always watch our calories (or points), but we don't always ensure those calories consist of balanced nutrition.
The program also comes with an exercise component consisting of 7 x 30 minute workouts.
I will post here how I'm making out with this program. Here is what I'm doing today to get started:
- my exercise is complete, and consisted of a 10k run around Buntzen Lake
- my breakfast was a Shakeology shake with the Vegan Chocolate, 1/4 banana, 3 tsp peanut butter, 1 cup almond milk, and ice, blended
- I'm planning out my meals using the online meal planning help for ideas
- I've printed off the meal planning forms to track my eating
- my water jug is filled!
Here's to a quick rebound from my summer vacation!
